Salutations to Shiva, who wears the King of snakes as a garland, the Three-eyed God, whose body is smeared with ashes, the great Lord, the eternal and pure One, who wears the directions as His garment, and who is represented by na-kAra.

I bow to Shiva, who has been worshipped with water from the ganA (mandAkini) and annointed with sandalwood paste, the Lord of nandI, the Lord of the host of goblins and ghosts, the great Lord, who is worshiped with mandAra and many other kinds of flowers, and who is represented by ma-kAra.

Salutations to Shiva, who is all-auspiciousness, Who is the sun that causes the lotus face of GaurI (PArvatI) to blossom, Who is the destroyer of the Yajna of dakSha, whose throat is blue (nIlakaNTha), whose flag bears the emblem of the bull, and who is represented by the shi-kAra.

VasiShTha, agastya, Gautama, and other venerable sages, and Indra and other Gods have worshipped the head of (Shiva's linga). I bow to that Shiva whose three eyes are the moon, sun and fire, and who is represented va-kAra.

यक्षस्वरूपाय जटाधराय पिनाकहस्ताय सनातनाय .
दिव्याय देवाय दिगम्बराय तस्मै यकाराय नमः शिवाय .. ५..

যক্ষস্বরূপায় জটাধরায় পিনাকহস্তায় সনাতনায় .

Salutations to Shiva, who bears the form of a YakSha, who has matted hair on His head, Who bears the pinAka bow in His hand, the Primeval Lord, the brilliant God, who is digambara (naked), and who is represented by ya-kAra.

पंचाक्षरमिदं पुण्यं यः पठेच्छिवसन्निधौ .
शिवलोकमवाप्नोति शिवेन सह मोदते ..

পংচাক্ষরমিদং পুণ্যং যঃ পঠেচ্ছিবসন্নিধৌ .
শিবলোকমবাপ্নোতি শিবেন সহ মোদতে ..

Anyone who recites this sacred five-syllabled mantra, (namaH shivAya) near the Shiva (linga), attains the abode of Shiva and rejoices there with Shiva.

Adya Stotram

The Adya Stotram / আদ্যা স্তোত্র / आद्या स्तोत्रम् , which is very popular in West Bengal, is a hymn in tribute to Adya Ma.  It has 20 shlokas in Sanskrit written in very simple language and talks about the greatness of Adya Ma and the benefits of understanding and reciting the stotram. The benefits of daily recitation of the Stotram are: Protection from death, sickness and fear Conceiving, for those women who are childless Protection from any danger during travel especially by water Protection during wars Protection during troubled times Receiving the same amount of blessing as going on holy pilgrimage Adya Ma is regarded as the physical form (manifestation) of Adya Shakti. Adya Shakti is the primary supreme force of Nature and is regarded as the force essential to the existence of the other forces on Nature. She is worshiped in the form of Goddess Kali. She has a famous temple dedicated to her in Dakshineshwar , West Bengal. The Adya Stotram (hymn) is

Jagaddhatri Stotram and Jagadhatri Puja

  Jagaddhatri also spelled as Jagadhatri (Devnagri: जगद्धात्री, Bengali: জগদ্ধাত্রী) literally means She Who Holds the World or the Protector of the World . She is a form of Devi Durga. She is highly revered in West Bengal, especially in Chandernagore (my ancestral home) which has the biggest celebration of Jagaddhatri Puja in India. People come from all parts of India to Chandannagar to enjoy the amazing light works and show. Other places where the Puja is celebrated with gusto are Bhadreshwar, Hooghly, Rishra and Krishnanagar. Jagadhatri Puja is celebrated on the ninth day of the waxing phase of moon in Kartick month in West Bengal. Outside West Bengal, the Puja is also celebrated as Jagadamaba Puja or Dhatri Puja.
